A week-long workshop and exhibition titled “Solar Energy Technologies & Applications (SETA-2025)” began at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Monday, focusing on innovation, research, and real-world applications of solar energy systems.
The event is organized under the patronage of Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, Director, NIT Srinagar, with Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir (Dean, Research & Consultancy) and Prof. Atikur Rehman (Registrar) as co-patrons. Dr. Yashwant Mehta serves as Secretary, Dr. Asadur Rahman as Convener, and Dr. Pankaj Kumar as Coordinator.
Presiding over the inaugural session, Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir stressed the need to integrate modern solar technologies with AI, IoT, and machine learning for efficient and sustainable energy systems. “Such workshops bridge the gap between academia and industry, helping optimize performance through data-driven solutions,” she said.
Guest of Honour Er. Bashir Ahmad, Managing Director, JK Green Technologies, highlighted solar energy’s role in ensuring energy security and tackling climate challenges. “Renewable energy is no longer an alternative—it’s a necessity. Local innovation will drive the next phase of J&K’s energy transition,” he said.
Dr. Asadur Rahman said the workshop will deepen participants’ understanding of solar technology—from design and grid integration to storage and smart monitoring. Sponsored by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the event includes expert talks, demonstrations, and an exhibition of solar innovations by students and researchers.
The SETA-2025 initiative aligns with NIT Srinagar’s mission to promote renewable energy research, capacity building, and support India’s transition toward a sustainable, energy-efficient future.
