Nusrat’s Kashmiri Divyang athlete breaks barriers

April 15, 2026 | Mohmmad Daanish

Srinagar, Apr 14: Nusrat, a specially-abled youth from Noorpora, Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, is emerging as an inspiring example of determination and resilience, steadily making his mark in sports despite physical challenges.

Nusrat has refused to let limitations define his life. Instead, he has embraced sports as a means of empowerment, training consistently and participating in local sporting activities with remarkable enthusiasm and confidence.
Family members and locals say Nusrat’s journey has been driven by sheer willpower, as he continues to push boundaries and focus on building his strength and skills. His dedication has earned him appreciation in his community, where he is seen as a symbol of hope for other differently-abled youth.
Despite limited facilities and infrastructure, Nusrat remains focused on his goal of pursuing sports seriously. He says challenges are part of life, but determination and hard work can overcome any barrier.
Locals have urged authorities and sports bodies to provide better support, training facilities, and opportunities for differently-abled athletes like Nusrat so that their talent can be nurtured at higher levels.
Nusrat’s story stands as a reminder that disability is not inability, and with encouragement and opportunity, many such youths from remote areas of Kashmir can achieve excellence in sports and beyond.
