Once again, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a customary, ill-informed statement on Jammu and Kashmir — a repetition of rhetoric that has long lost its relevance and credibility. India’s strong denunciation of the OIC’s latest remarks is not only justified but also a necessary reminder that such politically motivated narratives carry neither legitimacy nor weight in the international arena. The OIC, which claims to represent the collective voice of the Muslim world, has increasingly turned into a platform exploited by Pakistan to propagate baseless allegations against India. Despite having 57 member states, the organisation has failed to forge a coherent or meaningful policy on any global issue, let alone Kashmir. Its selective outrage and silence on the plight of Muslims in several conflict zones expose its hypocrisy and eroded moral authority. New Delhi’s position on Jammu and Kashmir has been clear, consistent, and rooted in historical and legal fact: the region is an integral and inalienable part of India. The abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 was a sovereign decision taken within the framework of the Indian Constitution — one that has led to unprecedented development, democratic participation, and socio-economic upliftment in the Union Territory. Today, schools are thriving, tourism has touched record highs, and women and youth are seizing new opportunities — a reality that stands in stark contrast to the falsehoods peddled by Pakistan and echoed by the OIC. The OIC’s continued interference, driven by a single member’s obsession with Kashmir, only undermines its own credibility. Most of its member nations enjoy robust bilateral relations with India and recognise the futility of Pakistan’s narrative. Many have even distanced themselves from OIC’s anti-India resolutions, choosing pragmatic diplomacy over empty posturing. In truth, the OIC has become a toothless organisation — irrelevant in the global order and ineffective in serving the very purpose it was created for. Instead of sermonising on India’s internal affairs, it would do well to introspect on its failures and focus on genuine humanitarian crises that demand attention. India’s message is firm and unambiguous: Jammu and Kashmir is, and will always remain, an integral part of India. No amount of propaganda, however frequent or loud, can alter this truth. The OIC’s statements may make headlines for a day, but their impact — much like the organisation itself — is hollow and short-lived.
