Poonch, August 5: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the government's priority has shifted to rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in the flood-affected areas of Poonch after the completion of rescue and recovery operations.

During his visit to the affected areas, the Chief Minister interacted with families impacted by the recent floods and assured them that financial assistance would be extended while restoration of damaged infrastructure would be taken up on a priority basis.

He said the government is also considering additional relief measures, including the provision of free ration, subject to proposals and assessments submitted by the district administration.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the ongoing relief and restoration work with senior officials and instructed them to speed up efforts to restore normalcy and ensure timely assistance to those affected by the floods.
