
Pilgrim dies after falling unconscious at Baltal
: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said the annual Amarnath Yatra is progressing smoothly and has crossed the one lakh mark within the first six days of its commencement.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Office of J&K LG said, “The journey of faith, holy Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra has surpassed 1 lakh pilgrims within the first six days of pilgrimage.”
“The spiritual festivity and Yatra is continuing smoothly on both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes and expected to draw more devotees in the days to come,” Office of J&K LG further said on X.
The annual Amarnath Yatra began on July 3 amid elaborate security and logistical arrangements to ensure the safety and convenience of devotees.
Meanwhile, a 69-year-old Amarnath Yatra pilgrim from Bengaluru, Karnataka, died today after falling unconscious near the Baltal base camp in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
The deceased was identified as R S Manjunath, son of Late R Shivaiah, a resident of Bengaluru, Karnataka.
“He suddenly lost consciousness near the vehicle parking area and was immediately shifted to the Base Hospital Baltal for medical attention. Doctors at the facility, however, declared him brought dead,” official said
