
Authorities have on Tuesday levied a fine in tune of rupees 152,200 on erring food dealers in Srinagar, amid ongoing holy month of Ramadan.
An official said that a fine in tune of rupees one lakh fifty thousand has been imposed by the adjudicating office (Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar) Syed Ahmad Kataria, in extension of action to ensure adherence of guidelines by the dealers under Food Safety & Standards Act.
Kataria on the eve warned food business operators that repeated violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act would result in the closure of their businesses.
The move, the ADC Srinagar, said aims to ensure food safety and hygiene in Srinagar, following the implementation of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, which emphasizes the importance of Food Safety and Standards Act.
