Parents of Jammu and Kashmir students studying in Iran have urged the state and central governments to ensure the immediate and safe evacuation of their children amid rising uncertainty in the region. Around 2,000 students from J&K are currently enrolled in universities across Iran.
The parents gathered outside the Divisional Commissioner’s office in Srinagar today and submitted a memorandum requesting government intervention. They expressed concern over disrupted communications and financial transfers, emphasizing the need for prompt action.
Meanwhile, the J&K Students Association clarified that the Indian Embassy’s evacuation process has been temporarily put on hold. Officials confirmed that no war-like situation is expected at present, and students are being kept informed through official channels. The Association added that evacuation measures will be activated if the situation changes.
