Promises for grievance redressal
In a significant step towards engaging and empowering the youth of North Kashmir, newly inducted People's Conference youth leader, Mohammad Zubair Mir, held a vibrant and interactive youth meeting at Old Town, Baramulla. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of local youngsters, reflecting growing interest and hope among the region’s youth for political representation and change.
Zubair Mir, who recently joined the fold of People's Conference, comes with a strong academic background—having completed his Master’s degree from the University of Exeter in the UK. Addressing the gathering, Zubair said, “After finishing my studies, I returned to Kashmir with a deep sense of responsibility. I saw the struggles of the underprivileged people around me and realized that to truly make a difference, I needed a platform. Politics seemed to offer the space to bring real change, and that’s what led me to join People's Conference.”
The meeting wasn’t just symbolic—it was marked by serious conversations around pressing local issues. During an engaging question-and-answer session, many youngsters voiced the need for a dedicated People's Conference office in Baramulla. They highlighted the absence of a proper grievance redressal mechanism and expressed their desire to have a physical space where their concerns could be heard and acted upon.
Responding to the demand, Zubair Mir acknowledged the necessity of youth outreach and community engagement. “I fully understand the importance of accessibility in politics. A party office in Baramulla is not just a demand—it’s a need. I assure you, we will establish such an office very soon to ensure your voices are not just heard but acted upon,” he stated, drawing applause from the audience.
The meeting marks a significant milestone in Zubair Mir’s political journey and reflects People’s Conference’s focus on youth empowerment and grassroots outreach. With young, educated leaders like Zubair stepping into the political arena, the aspirations of Kashmiri youth are beginning to find a new, more relatable voice.
The session concluded with renewed enthusiasm, as many youngsters expressed their willingness to work with Zubair in upcoming developmental and political initiatives across the district.
