The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) Kashmir Chapter, under the leadership of its Chairman, Mr. A P Vicky Shaw, visited ongoing preparations today in anticipation of the groundbreaking Khelo India Water Sports Festival, set to take place on the iconic Dal Lake.
This landmark event, the first of its kind that would be organised in J&K under dynamic leadership of Hon’ble LG that will see the serene waters of Dal Lake, the jewel of Kashmir, transform into a vibrant national sporting arena, marking a historic moment for the region.
Shaw and the entire PHDCCI Kashmir team extended their profound commendation to Ms. Nuzhat Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, whose meticulous and epic arrangements have been instrumental in bringing this visionary project to life. "Her dedication and strategic planning have been the cornerstone of the event's organization. We are confident that under her stewardship, the festival will set a new benchmark for sporting events in the country," added Mr. Shaw.
Scheduled from 21st August , the festival will witness over 400 elite athletes from 36 states and union territories converging in Srinagar to compete for glory. The competitive events will feature three medal sports: Rowing, Canoeing, and Kayaking. Adding to the spectacle will be a series of thrilling demonstration events, including Water Skiing, Dragon Boat Races, and a unique Shikara Sprint, seamlessly blending high-octane competition with the valley's rich cultural tapestry.
Chairman A P Vicky Shaw stated, "This festival is much more than a sporting event; it is a celebration of potential, resilience, and beauty. Hosting a national event of this scale on Dal Lake positions Kashmir firmly on the map as a premier destination for adventure and sporting tourism. During the visit at SKICC, the PHDCCI Kashmir team reviewed the arrangements and logistical plans for the smooth execution of the festival. The Chamber expressed its full support for the initiative, recognizing its immense potential to boost local economy, tourism, and youth engagement in sports.
