In its weekly meeting today, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) Kashmir Chapter first and foremost *congratulated the Government of India* for the successful *precision strike in the Sindoor operation, which has sent a strong message to the enemies of peace and perpetrators of the recent **Pahalgam terror attack
The members acknowledged that while such decisive security actions are crucial for long-term stability, the immediate aftermath has resulted in significant economic repercussions for Kashmir's vital tourism and handicrafts sectors. The PHDCCI resolved to seek urgent government intervention through:
Financial restructuring and *loan moratoriums* for affected businesses
Special relief packages for tourism and allied industries
- Policy relaxations to help businesses recover
Looking toward the future, PHDCCI Kashmir emphasized the need to:
Diversify the economy by promoting new-age businesses in IT, financial services, and education sectors
Strengthen core sectors like horticulture and agribusiness that form the backbone of J&K's GDP
Enhance skill development initiatives to prepare local entrepreneurs for emerging opportunities
"The last five years have seen unprecedented peace and economic stability in Kashmir," said Himayu Wani Co Chairman PHDCCI Kashmir. "While we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the nation in combating terrorism, we must also safeguard our economic progress. The business community fully supports the government's efforts to bring everlasting stability to the region."
The PHDCCI announced it would formally approach to LG and CM office and the Ministry of Finance, Reserve Bank of India, and Ministry of Home Affairs through its headquarters to seek necessary UT level and Central level relaxations and support measures.
