Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in Handwara & Pulwama and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

In Handwara, a police party from Police Post Magam at a checkpoint established at Magam chowk, intercepted a suspicious person. During search, 04 grams of heroin-like contraband substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Amir Ayoub Khan, son of Mohd Ayoub Khan, resident of Marathgam, Handwara and was subsequently arrested. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 211/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and further investigation has been taken up.
Moreover, in Pulwama, J&K Police foiled a drug smuggling bid at Newa and seized 120 grams of heroin-like substance from a notorious woman drug peddler identified as Sheikh Maroofa, wife of Sheikh Tasaduq, resident of Kathidarwaza Mumkhan, Rainawari, Srinagar. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 217/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered, and further investigation is underway. Notably, her husband namely Sheikh Tasaduq, has already been detained under PIT NDPS by Srinagar Police.
