Police arrests 4 drug peddlers in Kashmir

Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam, Pulwama & Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Kulgam, a police party led by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint established near Nippora crossing on NHW-44 intercepted a suspicious person. During search, 4Kgs of grinded Cannabis, 50 grams of Cannabis Powder and 80 grams of Charas like substance concealed in a gunny bag were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Mohammad Imran Malik son of Abdul Rashid Malik resident of Khaloora, Devsar.
Similarly, a police party led by SHO Police Station DH Pora at a checkpoint established at village Ahmadabad intercepted a suspicious person. During checking, officers were able to recover 3Kgs of Poppy Straw and 120 grams of Charas like substance concealed in a Nylon Sac from his possession. He has been identified as Gull Mohammad Najar son of Abdul Samad Najar resident of Ahmadabad.
In Pulwama, a Police Party led by Incharge Police Post Reshipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Shri Mumtaz Ali Bhatti-JKPS arrested one drug peddler in a suspicious condition at Beighpora crossing. He has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Wani son of Mohd Rajab Wani resident of Beighpora. During search, 600 grams of Charas Powder like substance was recovered from his possession.
In Handwara, a police party of Police Station Kralgund during patrolling at Panditpora intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, around 29 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Lateef Ahmad Mir son of Ab Gani Mir resident of Langate.
All the accused persons were arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
