
Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 09 drug peddlers in Shopian, Budgam & Pulwama and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Shopian, a police party of Police Station Zainapora at a checkpoint established at Kashwa–Zainapora axis, intercepted two suspicious persons. They have been identified as Mohd Zafran Lone, resident of Tanger, Ramban & Irfan Yatoo, resident of Verinag, Kapran, A/P both working at Pandit Colony, Allowpora, Keegam. During search, charas-like substance weighing approximately 190 grams was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 103/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been initiated.
In Budgam, acting on specific information, a police party of Police Post Humhama, at a checkpoint established near Salsabeel Educational Institute, Humhama intercepted two suspicious persons who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. During their personal search, heroin-like substances weighing about 18.4 grams was recovered. They have been identified as Javid Ahmad Lone, son of Bashir Ahmad Lone, and Sakir Rashid, son of Ab. Rashid Dar, both residents of Humhama. They have been arrested and a case FIR No. 307/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam, and investigation has been initiated.
In Pulwama, a police party of Police Station Pulwama at a checkpoint established near veterinary point at Dangerpora intercepted a motorcycle (registration number JK02BT/3985) ridden by 02 persons. Upon search, officers recovered 553.5 grams of Charas chora and 19 grams of Charas-like substance from their possession. They have been identified as Abrar Ahmad Yatoo, son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Sonachuk Rajpora & Waqar Ahmad Chopan, son of Ghulam Mohammad, resident of Gund Hyder Dangerpora. They have been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 257/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pulwama and investigation has been initiated. Vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also seized.
Moreover, a police party of Police Station Pulwama at a checkpoint established at Mughalpora intercepted a motorcycle (registration number JK13B/0269) ridden by 03 persons. They have been identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Kasana, son of Mir Hussain, resident of Chawan Keller, Bilal Ahmad Gorsi, son of Mohammad Sadiq, resident of Zampathri Shopian & Ruksar Ahmad Gorsi, son of Bashir Ahmad, resident of Zampathri Shopian. Upon search, cannabis weighing 29.5 grams, 31 grams, and 22 grams respectively was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 256/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pulwama and investigation has been initiated. Vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also seized.
