As part of its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police in Shopian have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

During routine naka checking at Awneera Zainapora, a person moving under suspicious circumstances was intercepted. During search, Charas-like substance weighing approximately 118 grams was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Mohd Rafiq son of Noor Aalam resident of Ransoo Reasi, presently residing at Ahgam Keegam.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 84/2025 under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Zainapora. Investigation has been initiated to trace the forward and backward linkages of the accused and to unearth the broader network involved in the trade.
J&K Police reiterates its commitment to maintaining a drug-free society and appeals to the general public to cooperate in this noble mission. Citizens are requested to share any information regarding drug abuse or peddling to the nearest police station.
