Police conducts drug awareness seminar at Biscoe School

With the objective of educating students about the risks associated with substance abuse and its consequences, and to encourage them to adopt healthy habits, the District Police Srinagar, under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025–26, conducted a Drug De-Addiction Awareness Seminar under theme “No to Drugs Yes to Life” at Tyndale Biscoe School Lal Chowk Srinagar on 30-09-2025.

The event was attended by senior police officers, including Sh. ZohebTanweer-JKPS, SP East Srinagar; Sh. Mohd. Yasser Parrey-JKPS, SDPO Kothibagh; Sh. Inspr.Adil Rashid, SHO P/S Kothibagh; as well as the Principal, lecturers, students, invited guests, and other staff members of Tyndale Biscoe School Lal Chowk Srinagar.
Experts from IMHANS Rainawari, were also invited to the programme, where they interacted with the audience and deliberated on key aspects of substance abuse, as well as the remedial measures that need to be undertaken.
During the event, the officers emphasized the urgent need to safeguard the younger generation from the menace of drug abuse and highlighted its devastating impact on both individuals and society. They also underscored the importance of encouraging youth to remain drug-free and to actively raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse, in support of the goal of achieving a ‘drug-free society.
Further, a debate competition was held in which participants shared their perspectives and views, gave presentations, and explored concrete solutions to the complex and pressing issue of drug abuse, which poses a significant threat to the very fabric of our society.
The initiative reflects the commitment of Srinagar Police to eradicating drug abuse and promoting a safer, healthier community. Participants expressed their gratitude to Srinagar Police for organizing such programmes, thus building a bridge of trust between the police and the youth.
At the conclusion of the event, the first three position holders were awarded suitable cash prizes, and all participants were served refreshments.
As a constant endeavor, East zone of Srinagar Police is also organizing Nukkad Natak/ Dangal programmes on the theme ”No to Drugs Yes to Life” in near future.
