Police cracks down on illegal timber smuggling in Pulwama

Pulwama, April 5: Continuing its drive against illegal activities, J&K Police successfully seized a consignment of illicit Timber in Sangerwani area of Pulwama.

Police Post Sangerwani received reliable information that one individual namely Ali Mohd Deedad son of Siraj-ud-Din Deedad resident of Chowtal had concealed illegal forest timber in his kotha at Badi Behak. Acting promptly on this information, a joint raid was conducted by Police along with officials of the Forest Department. During the operation, police successfully recovered 04 raw logs and 06 wooden beams from the said location. The recovered timber was seized on the spot and subsequently handed over to the concerned Forest officials for further necessary action.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 49/2026 under sections 26 Forest Act and 303(2) BNS has been registered at Police Station Rajpora and further investigation has been taken up.
J&K Police remains committed to taking strict action against illegal timber smuggling and appeals to the public to cooperate and share information regarding such unlawful activities.
