
Sopore, Sep 12: As part of its continued efforts to engage with youth and promote sports culture, J&K Police kick-started a series of sporting events under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026-27 with a Handball Tournament at Khushal Sports Stadium, Sopore.
A total of eight teams from across Police District Sopore are participating in the tournament, providing young players an opportunity to showcase their talent and compete on a common platform. On the opening day, six matches were played with enthusiasm and true sporting spirit. After a series of competitive matches, MET Higher Secondary School Sopore and Sub Coaching Centre Handball Club Sopore qualified for the final.
The sporting events under CAP are aimed at strengthening engagement with youth, providing them better platforms to showcase their sporting talent and encouraging their energies towards positive and constructive activities. The initiative also seeks to strengthen police-public relations through greater interaction and community participation.
Police will continue to organise sports and youth-oriented activities across the Police District Sopore under CAP 2026-27, with a focus on encouraging local talent and creating meaningful opportunities for young people. J&K Police wishes both finalist teams the very best for the final.
