In a continued crackdown on banned organisations, Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted targeted searches at multiple locations in the Sopore and Handwara subdistricts of Jammu and Kashmir.

In Sopore, police said that it raided the residence of Syed Yousuf Shah of Hygam in connection with an 2025 FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), recovering literature and photographs linked to the banned Jammu & Kashmir Itihad-ul-Muslimeen (JKIM).
Police said the search was carried out after obtaining proper legal authorisation from the competent court of law.
The operation is part of sustained efforts to investigate unlawful activities of proscribed organisations and to dismantle the terror–separatist ecosystem in the area, police said.
Meanwhile, police conducted searches at the residences of individuals linked to the banned Hurriyat and Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) in Handwara sub district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said the searches conducted yesterday were targeted at the residence of Ghulam Hassan Khan of Maidan Chogol, linked to the banned Hurriyat, and Abdul Ahad Lone of Wahipora, associated with the proscribed Jamaat.
“These searches were conducted as part of ongoing investigations to ascertain the involvement of the individuals in activities that may threaten peace and public order,” police said. “This action underscores Handwara Police’s proactive approach to dismantling the capabilities of the terror ecosystem and preventing any disruptions to law and order in the region.”
Police said they will continue to take decisive action against any individual or organisation attempting to disturb the law and order situation in the police district.
