Police recovers abducted girl; accused arrested

J&K Police have arrested a kidnapper and safely recovered the kidnapped girl (name withheld) from his possession after a swift and well-coordinated operation.

Acting on specific input, on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, a special police team from Police Post Shadipora traced out and apprehended the accused Firdous Rustum Khan son of Rustum Ali Khan resident of Shatigam, Handwara from the State of Himachal Pradesh. It is pertinent to mention that the accused is a vagabond and was already married around ten years ago, having two children. The investigation further revealed that the accused had been using social media and other online platforms to lure girls.
After completing all medico-legal formalities, the recovered girl was handed over to her legal heirs. In this connection, a case FIR No. 185/2025, under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Ganderbal, and further investigation is in progress.
J&K Police appeals to the general public, especially youth, to remain cautious while interacting with strangers on social media and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
