Srinagar, June 7: Ahead of the start of the 57-day Amarnath Yatra, police has enhanced its preparedness by deploying advanced hi-tech security gadgets to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims at various Yatra camps.

According to police spokesman, the Security Wing of J&K police is equipped with a range of modern security devices for Access Control and Anti-sabotage Operations including Portable RCIED Jammers, Deep Search Metal Detectors, Explosive and Liquid Explosive Detectors, Non-Linear Junction Detectors (NLJDs), Contraband Busters, Prodder Vehicle Search Mirrors, Optical Fiberscopes, Mulitypes CCTV Systems, XBIS, Vehicle-Mounted XBIS, Multi-Zone DFMDs (Fixed/multizone), HHMDs, Search Metal Detectors and other specialized equipments.
To assess operational readiness, a physical inspection-cum-live demonstration of the gadgets was conducted at Security Lines Kashmir, Batamaloo on Saturday under the supervision of IGP Security, J&K Sujit Kumar Singh IPS.
The exercise showcased the capabilities of the equipment in strengthening Access Control, Surveillance, Screening and Anti-Sabotage measures.
The annual 57-day Amarnath yatra will start on July 3.
Meanwhile, for the first time, all the pony-riders (horsemen), porters, shopkeepers and taxi drivers serving on the Amarnath Yatra route have been linked to special QR-based Pehchan App.
Under the "Pahchan" app, all these service providers are being issued a special QR code after police verification. Any pilgrim on the pilgrimage can scan this code with their mobile phone to accurately identify the individual.
The administration hopes that this technology will not only strengthen security but also increase trust between travelers and local service providers.
The administration is working to quickly complete the verification process for all shopkeepers and laborers before the journey begins
