Pothole-riddled road troubles Mehor Nagar residents

August 27, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Srinagar, Aug 27: Residents of Mehor Nagar are facing considerable inconvenience due to potholes and damaged patches along the local road, with commuters alleging that the deteriorating surface has made daily travel difficult and raised concerns over road safety.

Residents said several stretches of the road have developed potholes, forcing motorists to slow down sharply and manoeuvre around damaged portions. The situation becomes particularly troublesome during peak hours when traffic movement increases and vehicles compete for limited safe space on the road.
“Travelling on this road has become a daily ordeal. Drivers have to negotiate potholes at every turn, while pedestrians also face difficulty moving safely,” a resident said.
Locals said the poor condition of the road is causing inconvenience to residents, schoolchildren, elderly people and two-wheeler riders. During rainfall, they added, potholes often fill with water and become difficult to identify, increasing the risk of accidents and damage to vehicles.
Residents also expressed concern that prolonged neglect could further worsen the condition of the road, particularly with continued traffic movement. They said temporary repairs, wherever carried out, have not provided a lasting solution.
The residents have urged the concerned authorities to inspect the affected stretch and undertake immediate repair and resurfacing work. They also called for proper drainage arrangements to prevent water accumulation and protect the repaired surface from further deterioration.
Locals said a properly maintained road is essential for smooth movement of traffic and the safety of pedestrians and motorists. They appealed to the authorities to address the issue on priority and ensure that the road is restored to a safe and motorable condition.
Residents hope that the concerned department will take prompt action instead of waiting for the damaged stretches to deteriorate further.
