Srinagar, Aug 8:Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Chalkoo, a distinguished laparoscopic and minimal access surgeon, has contributed to Advances in Surgical Science, Techniques, Innovations and Clinical Applications, Vol. 6 (2026), published by Selfypage Developers Pvt. Ltd., Karnataka.
The 14-chapter volume offers a comprehensive and contemporary overview of advances in surgical practice, technological innovations, perioperative management and translational research shaping the future of surgery.
Prof. Chalkoo has authored and edited the volume along with other contributors, with a key focus on integrating scientific research with clinical applications and advanced surgical techniques. He is recognised nationally and internationally for his contributions to laparoscopic and minimal access surgery, including techniques and concepts associated with his name, such as Chalkoo’s Point, Chalkoo’s Techniques, Chalkoo Concepts, Chalkoo’s Stitch, Chalkoo’s Modifications and the Chalkoo Patent Retractor, granted by the Indian Patent Office.
Prof. Chalkoo has guided 16 postgraduate and five post-doctoral fellowship students in laparoscopy and minimal access surgery. He has also demonstrated advanced laparoscopic procedures at national live workshops and delivered more than 60 guest lectures in India and abroad.
A teacher, orator, poet and prolific writer, Prof. Chalkoo has also authored three books, including My Expressions and Pazzar-Akh-Zeend.
