Prof. Dinesh Rai invited to lead Assam dairy sector conclave

Guwahati/Muzaffarpur, Nov 1: In a major acknowledgement of his national standing in dairy and food technology, Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai, the distinguished Vice-chancellor of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU), Muzaffarpur, has been invited by the Hon'ble Governor of Assam to participate in a high-level state conclave aimed at revolutionizing the region's livestock sector.

Prof. Rai, a senior professor at BHU, will be a central figure at the "Conclave on Development of Dairy Sector, Animal Husbandry and Co-operatives in Assam." Scheduled for November 3rd and 4th, 2025, at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Khanapara, Guwahati, the event is being organized by the Governor's Secretariat, Assam, in collaboration with ICAR-NDRI and various state departments. The two-day conclave is being chaired by the Hon’ble Governor and is designed to formulate strategic approaches for accelerated development in the dairy and animal husbandry sectors.
Crucially, the Vice-chancellor will assume a major leadership position by serving as the CONVENER for the high-priority Thematic Session: Dairy Technology, Processing & Start-ups on Day 2 of the event. This pivotal session is set to deliberate on fundamental aspects of modernization, including clean milk production, value addition, quality management, and innovative business models for the region.
The invitation, explicitly underscored the significance of Prof. Rai’s contribution, stating that his "valued expertise will significantly contribute to the discussions and help shape meaningful recommendations" for advancing Assam's livestock sectors.
Responding to the high honor, Prof. Rai expressed profound appreciation for the initiative. "I am profoundly honored by the invitation from the Hon'ble Governor of Assam to be a part of this vital conclave," Prof. Rai stated. "The initiative to bring together distinguished experts is a commendable step towards strengthening the region's rural economy and ensuring food security."
He further added that his focus would be on practical implementation: "I look forward to contributing my expertise, particularly in dairy technology and value addition, to formulate actionable, location-specific strategies for Assam's progressive farmers."
With his extensive background spanning Breeding, Genetics & Animal Health, and Dairy Technology, Prof. Rai's presence is anticipated to bring strategic direction and innovative, research-backed models vital for the modernization of Assam's dairy and livestock sectors.
