Pulwama police hosts girls’ cricket tournament

Continuing its efforts to promote women empowerment and encourage sports culture among youth, Police in Pulwama organized a Grand Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament for Girls under the Civic Action Programme at Sports Stadium Pulwama.

The tournament, being held for the first time in the district, aims to provide a vibrant platform for girls to showcase their sporting talent and inspire greater participation of women in sports. It will be conducted in a knockout format, featuring 08 teams from District Pulwama. The opening match witnessed a spirited contest between Noor 11 Pulwama Cricket Club and Hayat 11 Cricket Club.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of SSP Pulwama, Ms. P.D. Nitya-IPS, in the company of ASP Pulwama and several other esteemed officers from the district.
In her address, SSP Pulwama emphasized the importance of sports in fostering discipline, confidence, and teamwork among youth, especially young girls. She encouraged participants to channel their energy positively and assured continued support from Police in organizing such constructive initiatives.
The event drew enthusiastic participation and appreciation from players and spectators alike, reflecting the growing passion for sports among young girls in the district.
