Pulwama sports stadium project stalled

November 08, 2025 | BK News Service

Pulwama, Nov 7:Despite the passage of nearly a year since the identification of government land for a sports stadium at K-Koot Awantipora, work on the project has yet to begin — drawing strong criticism from local residents.

According to official sources, the land for the stadium was identified last year following the directions of the District Development Commissioner Dr.Basharat Qayoom(DC) Pulwama. Subsequently, the Block Development Office Awantipora released funds for the renovation and development of the ground.
However, as the final months of 2025 begin, the project remains stalled, with no visible progress on the site. The delay has sparked outrage among locals, who have accused the Revenue Department of “playing with their hopes” and failing to act despite the release of funds.
Residents have urged the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter and ensure that the allocated funds for the sports ground are utilized promptly to bring the long-awaited project to life.
