Pvt schools charging extra fee will face action: Edu Minister

The Education Minister Sakeena Itoo on Thursday issued a stern warning to private schools charging excessive fees from parents, stating that strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
Talking to reporters on sidelines of a function in Srinagar, Itoo urged parents facing such issues to directly report their grievances to the Education Department or contact her office with proof.
“Nobody is above the law. Schools engaging in unfair practices will be dealt with strictly,” she asserted.
The minister also discouraged parents from airing grievances on social or electronic media, urging them to approach the department for prompt resolution.
When asked about the winter break, the minister said winter vacation is a routine exercise.
“Academic calendar was changed from March session to Nov-Dec. We want students to join another classes after concluding examination and then winter vacation will start. Due to dry weather, cold has intensified,” she said.
She said people can lodge compliant if any private school is fleecing then on annual fees.
The Education Department has assured swift action against complaints and has encouraged parents to provide necessary documentation when reporting issues.
