The Jammu Division of Northern Railway has facilitated the first-ever shipment of vermicompost fertiliser to Anantnag from Ambala, marking a boost in freight movement to Kashmir.
The consignment included 1,200 bags weighing around 60 tonnes, dispatched by Sikri Farms in Haryana.
Officials said the shipment highlights efforts to support small traders through piecemeal freight services and improve agricultural supply chains in the region.
The successful delivery is expected to encourage more businesses to use rail transport for goods movement to Kashmir.
