Rainfall Activity Likely to Increase Across J&K From July 19

Srinagar, July 16: The Meteorological Centre, Srinagar, has forecast an increase in rainfall activity across Jammu and Kashmir from July 19, with widespread rain and thunderstorms likely to continue through July 23.

 

The weather department has predicted rain and thundershowers at several places on July 19.

 

From July 20 to July 23, generally cloudy weather is expected, with intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershowers likely at most places. Brief spells of intense rainfall may also occur at a few locations.

 

The MeT Department has issued a caution regarding possible flash floods in vulnerable areas of the Chenab Valley, Pir Panjal region and some hilly parts of the Kashmir Valley between July 20 and July 22.

 

It has also warned of waterlogging in low-lying areas, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones along vulnerable stretches, particularly on hilly roads and highways.

 

The authorities have advised residents, commuters and travellers to follow official weather advisories and exercise caution during the forecast period.
