Prices of fruits, dry fruits and essential commodities, including edible oil, ghee, flour, sugar, pluses, increased in the retail market amid a jump in demand with beginning of holy month of Ramdan.

Prices of dates have shot up in the retail market. Different varieties of dates are offered in the range of Rs 100 -Rs 1,500 per kg. Traders said, prices of dry fruits were ruling weak until a week ago but most items saw an upside in prices due to Ramzan.
