Reasi, July 15: The District Administration Reasi has issued a public advisory regarding a possible rise and fluctuation in the water level of the Chenab River from July 16 to July 26 due to scheduled silt flushing operations at the Salal and Baglihar Hydroelectric Projects.

Officials said controlled water releases during the flushing process may cause sudden changes in the river's water level downstream.

Residents living along the Chenab banks, along with visitors, fishermen and livestock owners, have been advised to maintain caution and avoid going near the river during the specified period.

The administration has also urged people not to attempt crossing the river or undertake activities in vulnerable areas where water levels could change unexpectedly.

The advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure to prevent accidents and safeguard public safety during the maintenance operations.

Residents have been asked to remain alert, follow official directions and cooperate with the authorities until the silt flushing exercise is completed.
