
Guwahati/Imphal, Aug 28: In a significant move aimed at enhancing synergy between military and civilian stakeholders, the Red Shield Division of the Indian Army has launched a comprehensive 10-day Military-Civil Integration initiative across Assam and Manipur. The initiative focuses on strengthening coordination, operational preparedness, and joint response capabilities for a range of contingencies, including natural disasters, internal security challenges, and infrastructure disruptions.
The initiative brings together a wide spectrum of participants from the civil administration, state police, disaster response agencies, medical departments, Border Roads Organisation (BRO), General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF), Indian Railways, industry leaders, and academic institutions.
Over the course of 10 days, the participants will engage in table-top exercises, simulation drills, and outreach programmes designed to streamline inter-agency communication and decision-making processes in times of crisis. The drills will also involve scenario planning for flood response, insurgency-related evacuation procedures, emergency medical aid deployment, and critical infrastructure repair and restoration.
Senior military officials from the Red Shield Division emphasized the need for unified preparedness in the region, given its strategic importance and vulnerability to both natural and man-made threats. The initiative is particularly timely as the Northeast region faces the dual challenges of heavy monsoon-related disruptions and the continued need for infrastructure development and disaster resilience.
A key highlight of the event is the involvement of academia and local industries, aimed at leveraging innovation and technological solutions to assist in real-time decision-making and resource optimization.
