Jammu, July 30: The Jammu district administration has suspended a revenue official and initiated dismissal proceedings after a complaint alleging bribery in the issuance of an income certificate was found to be prima facie genuine.

According to the District Magistrate, Jammu, a resident approached the Deputy Commissioner's office claiming that an official had demanded money for issuing an income certificate.

The complaint was immediately examined by the administration. Following verification, the allegations were found to be prima facie true, leading to the suspension of the concerned official. Authorities have also started the process to dismiss the official from government service.

The District Magistrate's office reiterated that services such as income certificates, domicile certificates, ration cards, FARDs, and other revenue documents are legal entitlements of citizens and must be provided without any illegal demand for payment.

The administration urged people to report any instance of bribery or illegal gratification sought by government officials while delivering public services. It assured that the identity of complainants would be kept confidential and that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty.

In its appeal to the public, the District Magistrate's office said citizens should neither pay nor ignore demands for bribes, stressing that a single complaint can lead to decisive action against corruption.
