
Jammu, April 1:A Box Cricket Tournament for the sub-division R.S. Pura has been organized at Inter Village in the loving memory of Lt. Sh. Lala Sain Dass Gupta (Ex-MLC) and Lt. Smt. Vidya Devi. The tournament is being held at The Kings Land Turf, R.S. Pura, opposite SKUAST, attracting strong participation and enthusiasm from cricket lovers across the area.
The opening ceremony witnessed an energetic start with the unveiling of the tournament trophy and team jerseys by Shri Rakesh Minhas, District Magistrate (Jammu). He appreciated the initiative and encouraged the youth to actively participate in sports and channel their energy in a positive direction.
The tournament is being organized by Jai Durga Traders, R.S. Pura, popularly known as Cinema Wale, under the leadership of its owner, Mr. Raman Gupta. Proper arrangements have been made to ensure smooth conduct of matches and to maintain a competitive yet friendly atmosphere throughout the event.
The tournament commenced on April 1 and will continue over a period of 18 days. Around 60 teams from different parts of the R.S. Pura sub-division are participating, making it one of the largest cricketing events in the area. The high number of teams reflects the growing popularity of box cricket and the passion for the sport among local youth.
The event not only commemorates the memory of respected individuals but also provides a platform for young players to showcase their talent and develop sportsmanship, discipline, and team spirit. The tournament has generated excitement among local residents, turning the venue into a lively sporting hub.
