
Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, chaired a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat to review the performance and progress of ongoing projects in School and Higher Education Departments across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting saw participation from senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Shantmanu, Secretaries, Directors, Chief Engineers, and Chief Education Officers of all districts. The Minister evaluated key initiatives under RUSA, PM-USHA, CAPEX, and Samagra Shiksha, emphasizing timely execution, quality infrastructure, digital classrooms, and teacher training.
She directed officers to expedite college construction, create posts in new colleges, enhance remuneration for academic arrangement teachers, and strengthen student-centric initiatives like entrepreneurship cells and research-driven learning. For schools, she stressed digital transformation, smart classrooms, ICT labs, and inclusive access, especially in remote and border areas.
The Minister also instructed regular monitoring, coordination between departments, and efficient fund utilization, urging monthly progress reports and prompt recruitment through de-freezing of teacher posts. She highlighted that government school students are equally talented and encouraged awareness of alternative education avenues like JKSOS and NIOS.
