Amid the ongoing heatwave conditions in the Valley, the government has announced a change in school timings for all government and recognized private schools in the region.
The new timings will come into effect from Monday.
According to an order issued by Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), schools located within the Srinagar Municipal limits will now operate from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm while schools outside the municipal limits of Srinagar district and other areas of Kashmir will follow revised timings of 9 am to 3 pm.
The new schedule is binding for all educational institutions and authorities have warned that any deviation will be viewed seriously.
The change in school timing comes as Kashmir is experiencing unusually high temperatures for this time of the year.
