Security tightened at foreshore road ahead of R-Day

Srinagar, Jan 20: Security arrangements were stepped up at Foreshore Road Nishat in Srinagar on Tuesday as Srinagar Police, in coordination with the Central Reserve Police Force 54 Battalion, intensified checking and patrolling ahead of Republic Day celebrations.
Officials said joint teams of Srinagar Police and CRPF were deployed at strategic points along the Foreshore Road stretch in Nishat to ensure heightened vigilance and maintain law and order. The deployment included naka checking, frisking of suspicious persons and monitoring of vehicular movement as part of the broader security plan for January 26.
The security exercise is aimed at preventing any untoward incident and ensuring the safety of locals and commuters during the Republic Day period. Officials said special focus is being laid on sensitive locations, public movement corridors and entry and exit points across the area.
Police officials said such joint deployments form part of routine preventive measures ahead of national events, with coordination among multiple security agencies to ensure seamless coverage and rapid response capability.
Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate with security personnel during checking and verification procedures, stating that the measures are purely precautionary in nature.
