Third day of the Kilo North Kashmir Premier League saw scintillating cricket as teams from Lolab, Pattan, Narbal and Ganderbal went up against each other.
In the first match of the day, Mirgund Hunks from Pattan won the toss & elected to bat first. Hyder Ali played a skipper's innings as he took the Shaheen Sports opening bowlers to the cleaners by scoring a quickfire half century. But wickets kept falling at the other end as Muzzamil and Shehzad Lone ran riot through the entire Hunks lineup to restrict the total to only 131. Mirgund Hunks put up a fight by taking some early wickets, only to be outdone by a resolute Shahid Mir who's 76 notout saw Shaheen Sports Lalpora win the match by 6 wickets with two balls to spare. For his match winning performance Shahid was adjudged the Man of the Match and got his award from the founders of Kazhni, a women led & women owned cooperative based in Chandigam which specializes in Kari and Sozhni work.
The second match saw NCC Narbal XI and Lar XI fight to go top of their group. After winning the toss, Narbal XI elected to bat but got off to the worst start possible as Shahid Khan took three quick wickets to reduce Narbal XI to 18-3. And then in walked Waseem Kachur and changed the game on its head. As balls started flying all over the park, Waseem showed everyone why he's a beloved player of Kashmiris. With 16 sixers and 8 boundaries, Waseem scored a phenomenal 149 off just 63 balls and took his team's total to this competition's highest score of 201.
Put in to chase a monumental total, Lar XI lost early wickets and could never really get going in the right earnest finally getting all out for a paltry 89. Waseem Kachur was the deserving Man of the Match for his stupendous performance that has nearly sealed Narbal's place in the semi-finals.
Now the cricket enthusiasts of Kashmir wait for tomorrow's Group 1 matches as Lazzat Sopore go up against Wallur Sports Hajin and local favorites Friends XI Lolab take on Shartgund Cricket Club.
