Srinagar, Aug 28: A 1996-batch IPS officer, M K Sinha on Friday took charge as the new Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Jammu and Kashmir, succeeding Nitish Kumar, who has been transferred as ADGP, Armed Police, Jammu and Kashmir.

Sinha was serving as ADGP (Headquarters), Police Headquarters (PHQ), Jammu and Kashmir, before being appointed to head the CID.
Officials said soon after assuming charge, Sinha held a meeting with senior officers of the CID and reviewed the overall functioning of the intelligence wing. He was briefed about the functioning and activities of various branches of the department.
The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday ordered the appointment of M K Sinha as the new intelligence chief of the union Territory.
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar, a 1999-batch IPS officer, who was serving as ADGP CID and Director, State Investigation Agency (SIA), Jammu and Kashmir, has been posted as ADGP Armed Police.
