In a grand literary gathering organized by the Nigeeni Cultural Foundation Nigeen Hazratbal in Patli Pora Chatabal Srinagar, six poetry books penned by the renowned Sufi poet Abdul Rashid Wadu, popularly known as “Majrooh,” were officially released. The event was presided over by eminent broadcaster and writer Abdul Ahad Farhad and witnessed participation from a galaxy of literary figures.
The event was graced by internationally acclaimed journalist Ashraf Wani as the chief guest and senior journalist Farooq Wani as the guest of honor. Abdul Rashid Wado himself was present during the function, receiving heartfelt accolades from the literary fraternity.
The six poetry compilations launched during the ceremony include Dard Majroh, Majrooh Diwan, Nidai-e- Majrooh, Sadai Majrooh, Nawai Majrooh, and Majrooh Sodai. The poetic works reflect themes of mysticism, pain, and spiritual depth, staying true to the Sufi and Rishi traditions of Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, Farooq Wani emphasized the importance of reviving and promoting the rich Rishi-Sufi heritage of the region. He praised Wado’s contribution to keeping the spiritual and poetic traditions alive through his soulful verses.
The event was coordinated by noted journalist, writer, and poet Rasheed Rahil and was attended by several celebrated literary personalities, including Abdul Rahman Fida, Altaf Hussain Noshahri, Gulfam Barji, Nazir Ahmad Gojwari, Sufi Ghulam Qadir Dar, Showkat Sahil and Ashraf Nisar.
The ceremony concluded with a call for continued efforts to preserve and celebrate the literary and spiritual ethos of Kashmir.
