
In a vibrant literary celebration held at Patli Pora, Chatabal Srinagar, the Nigeeni Cultural Foundation Nigeen Hazratbal hosted the official launch of six poetry collections by esteemed Sufi poet Abdul Rashid Wadu, affectionately known in literary circles as “Majrooh.”
The event, marked by an atmosphere of reverence and artistic appreciation, was presided over by renowned broadcaster and author Abdul Ahad Farhad. It drew an impressive gathering of prominent literary personalities from across the region.
Internationally celebrated journalist Ashraf Wani graced the occasion as chief guest, while senior journalist and chief editor of Brighter Kashmir newspaper, Farooq Wani, was the guest of honour. The poet himself, Abdul Rashid Wadu, was present and received heartfelt tributes from fellow poets, writers, and admirers of his craft.
The six poetry titles unveiled at the ceremony—Dard Majrooh, Majrooh Diwan, Nidai-e-Majrooh, Sadai Majrooh, Nawai Majrooh, and Majrooh Sodai—are profound explorations of mysticism, pain, and spiritual reflection, deeply rooted in the Rishi-Sufi tradition of Kashmir.
Speaking at the event, Farooq Wani highlighted the significance of preserving and promoting the region’s rich spiritual and literary heritage. He commended Wadu’s poetic contributions for breathing new life into Kashmir’s Sufi tradition through his evocative verses.
The program was skillfully coordinated by noted journalist, poet, and writer Rasheed Rahil, and was attended by a host of literary luminaries, including Abdul Rahman Fida, Altaf Hussain Noshahri, Gulfam Barji, Nazir Ahmad Gojwari, Sufi Ghulam Qadir Dar, Showkat Sahil, and Ashraf Nisar.
The evening concluded with a collective call to continue nurturing and honoring Kashmir’s enduring legacy of spiritual literature and poetic expression.
