
The Women’s Welfare Committee of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) organized a special Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Screening Camp today for the women employees of the institute under chairmanship of Dr Sadaf Ali.
The camp was inaugurated by the esteemed Director SKIMS and EOSG , Prof Mohammad Ashraf Ganie ,in the presence of the Dean Medical Faculty, the Medical Superintendent SKIMS. Director SKIMS in his opening remarks impressed upon importance of women welfare especially their health, in SKIMS at particular and in UT of J and K at large .
The initiative was aimed at promoting preventive health care and early detection of common non-communicable diseases among women employees. A large number of participants availed themselves of the opportunity and underwent screening for hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and other risk factors.
The program was successfully conducted with the wholehearted support of the organizing committee members ,Dr. Sadaf Ali , Organising Chairperson , Dr Shamila organising Secretary, Dr Natasha ,Dr Dil Afroz , Dr. Shaida Nasreen, Dr. Iqra Nazir and Mrs Qurat who worked tirelessly to ensure smooth execution of the event.
Specialist consultations were provided by faculty experts including Dr. Farhana and Dr. Natasha Thakur , while a dietician offered personalized counseling, dietary advice, and distributed balanced diet charts. Free medications were also dispensed to those requiring medical intervention. In addition, Dr Moonisa from the Department of Radiology, did ultrasonography screening, further enhancing the scope of the camp.
In her concluding remarks, Dr. Sadaf, Chairperson of the Women’s Welfare Committee, expressed deep gratitude to the Director, Dean, Medical Superintendent,faculty members, volunteers and all women employees of SKIMS who enthusiastically participated in the camp. She emphasized the importance of such health initiatives in creating awareness, ensuring timely interventions, and fostering a culture of preventive healthcare among the workforce.
The event stood as a reflection of SKIMS’ continued commitment to the welfare of its employees and its vision of strengthening preventive health care services within the institution.
