
Jammu, Jan 21: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) has announced the Agriculture Summit & Kisan Mela 2026, scheduled from 11th to 13th February at its Main Campus, Chatha.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. B. N. Tripathi said the three-day event will focus on “AI-enabled Advanced Agriculture” and aims to bring together stakeholders from agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, rural development, agri-industries, startups, researchers, extension professionals, and farmers.
The summit will highlight AI-based smart technologies, precision agriculture, climate-smart practices, data-driven decision support systems, and digital innovations, fostering collaboration between farmers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and policymakers.
Sessions will cover improved crop varieties, modern farm machinery, organic farming, startups, value addition, and market linkages. Special features include farmer–scientist interactions, live technology demonstrations, workshops, programs for women and young farmers, and felicitation of progressive farmers.
Dr. Amrish Vaid, Director Extension, said the Kisan Mela will provide a platform for farmers to access new tools, government schemes, and information on agri-business opportunities. Stalls from departments, agri-input companies, FPOs, SHGs, startups, and partner organizations will also be set up.
The event is being organized in collaboration with multiple J&K departments, NABARD, IFFCO, and other partner organizations. The brochure outlining the theme, schedule, and registration details was also released.
University officials, including Drs. Vinod Gupta, Punit Choudhary, Pawan Sharma, Anil Bhat, and Vijay K. Sharma, coordinated the announcement. Stakeholders were encouraged to participate actively for knowledge sharing, capacity building, and networking.
The session concluded with a Q&A addressing registration, stall booking, and program logistics.
