
Farmers Witnessed Live Streaming of PM Modi’s Address on Release of 20th PM-KISAN Installment
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-Kashmir) on Saturday celebrated the UT Level Kisan Utsav Diwas to commemorate the release of the 20th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who addressed the nation from Varanasi.
On this occasion, ₹20,500 crore was transferred directly to the bank accounts of 9.7 crore farmers across the country through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode, reflecting the Government of India’s sustained commitment to empowering the farming community.
At SKUAST-K, Javaid Ahmad Dar, the State Agriculture Minister, graced the occasion and joined the Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Director Extension Prof. Raihana Habib Kant, and other officials of SKUAST-K in witnessing the live broadcast of the programme. Shri G.A. Sofi, Secretary (Technical), Agriculture Production Department; Shri Sartaj Ahmad Shah, Director Agriculture Kashmir; and Ghulam Jeelani Zargar, Director Horticulture, Planning and Marketing, also watched the live telecast of the programme.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of 950 farmers from the agriculture and allied sectors, in addition to university faculty members, officers and students.
The programme was organised by Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir in collaboration with Agricultural production department, J & K and KVK Srinagar.
