SKUAST-K launches climate club on Meteorological Day

Srinagar, April 1: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) marked World Meteorological Day at its Shalimar campus with the launch of a ‘Climate Champion Club’, engaging over 200 students and participants.

Organised by the Division of Agrometeorology in collaboration with the Association of Agrometeorologists (Kashmir Chapter) and the Department of Students’ Welfare, the event focused on linking climate science with youth-driven action under the theme “Observing Today and Protecting Tomorrow.”
Speakers highlighted the importance of climate awareness, sustainable practices and collective responsibility. Technical sessions explored the role of artificial intelligence, biotechnology and carbon sequestration in strengthening agricultural resilience, alongside hands-on training in agrometeorological tools.
A key highlight was the adoption of RP School Nagbal under the newly launched Climate Champion Club, aimed at nurturing students as climate advocates through awareness and practical initiatives.
