Katra, Oct 7: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) proved its sporting excellence by delivering a commendable performance at the Inter-Institution Sports Festival organized by IIT Jammu from 2nd to 5th October 2025. SMVDU participated in eight disciplines—Cricket, Volleyball, Basketball, Chess, Badminton, Table Tennis, E-Sports, and Athletics. SMVDU teams secured First Position in Badminton (Men) and Table Tennis (Men), Second Position in Cricket (Men), and Third Position in Basketball and Volleyball. A special mention goes to the Athletics Team, which delivered an exceptional performance by winning 7 Gold Medals, 4 Silver and 6 Bronze marking one of the finest achievements for SMVDU in inter- institution competitions. The women athletics team secured first position and the best woman athlete title was also clinched by SMVDU. The teams participated under the able supervision of Sports Coaches and Managers – Mr. Balbir Singh, Mr. Sumit Sharma, and Mr. Sudershan Sharma. Dr. Parvez Singh Slathia, In-charge, Sports, congratulated all the winners and appreciated their dedication and hard work. He extended his best wishes to all the athletes for their future competitions. Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, also congratulated the winning teams and commended them for bringing laurels to the University through their consistent efforts and achievements.
