There are four main seasons in the Kashmir Valley, like spring, summer, autumn, and winter.
Winter is the season where flurries of snow like to come down and lay a whitish carpet everywhere. Winters are mostly known for the snow and have great importance for the locals and visitors who come from all corners of the world.
Winters start with the arrival of a 40-day harsh period commonly called Chillai Kallan.
Chillai Kallan starts from the 21st of December every year. 21st December is the shortest day in terms of its length in the Kashmir Valley.
Snow accumulation starts from November to the end of March. The upper reaches receive snow, and every mountain looks like someone has painted the whitish color uniformly.

No doubt the Kashmir region threatens the signs of global warming; it is so because the valley records not sufficient snow during the peak seasons.
For the last number of decades, prolonged drought records directly or indirectly impacted the farmers and power-generating projects and had the threat of dry springs, rivers, canals, dams, etc.
With the arrival of Ramdhan ul Mubarak. The ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Almighty blessed the Kashmir Valley with Rahmat e Baraan in the form of ample snow. There are places in Kashmir where snow is recorded up to 5 feet; that is a good sign, and people feel respite from prolonged drought.
Drought causes several issues, like people getting sick, suffering from common colds, coughs, and fevers. These are the main health-related issues here, and farmers suffer during the peak farming period.
Snow generates employment for the lakhs of the youth in the Kashmir Valley and enhances the beauty of Kashmir.
