Gulmarg, Jan 6: The Department of Tourism, Kashmir successfully organized a Snow Shoe Race at Kangdori, Gulmarg, in collaboration with the J&K Snow Shoe Association as part winter carnival.

The event was formally flagged off by Mr. Tahir Wani, Assistant Director Tourism, Gulmarg, along with a young participant, Burhan Shabir, which added special enthusiasm to the occasion.
The competition was conducted in two categories: Junior and Senior. Dr. Altaf-ul-Rehman and Mr. Riyaz Wani distributed prizes among the position holders of both categories.
In the Junior category, Adil Rehman secured first place, Shakir bagged second place, while Inam-ul-Haq secured third place.
In the Senior category, Asif Teli secured first place, Muzamil achieved second place, and Arif Hamid secured third place.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tahir Wani, Assistant Director Tourism, Gulmarg, stated that the Department of Tourism will continue to organize more such events in the future, in addition to promoting other snow-related adventure activities in the region.
Among others present on the occasion were Dr. Altaf-ul-Rehman, General Secretary, J&K Snow Shoe Association; Mr. Riyaz Wani, President, JKMBA; and Mr. Rouf Ahmad.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and highlighted Gulmarg’s growing potential as a hub for winter sports and adventure tourism.
