The 59th AWWA Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and pride by Spear Corps at Rangapahar Military Station, commemorating the invaluable contributions of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA)—the silent yet strong support system behind every soldier.
The event was graced by Mrs. Preeti Pendharkar, Zonal President, Spear AWWA, who presided over the celebrations and conferred the AWWA Day Awards to individuals and units for their outstanding contributions to welfare and community initiatives. In her address, she lauded the spirit of solidarity and resilience demonstrated by the AWWA members and highlighted the organization's pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for army families.
As part of the celebrations, a series of vibrant and meaningful activities were conducted across the station. A wellness camp was organised, which included interactive lectures, movie screenings, and awareness sessions on health and emotional well-being. These events were aimed at promoting a holistic approach to health and encouraging open dialogue within families.
Adding to the humanitarian efforts, Mrs. Pendharkar visited the 165 Military Hospital, where she interacted with patients and praised the dedication of the hospital staff. Her interaction served as a morale booster for both the recovering personnel and the medical team, reflecting AWWA’s compassionate outreach.
Meanwhile, in alignment with the AWWA Day celebrations, Dao Division also held a multi-speciality health screening camp at Dinjan Military Station, focusing on preventive health care for women. The camp provided screenings for Breast, Cervical, and Oral cancers, along with routine health checkups. The initiative drew active participation and reinforced the importance of early detection and awareness among the army community.
The 59th AWWA Day celebrations across the formations of Spear Corps were a tribute to the "silent force"—the spouses of soldiers—who continue to serve the nation with dignity and dedication from behind the scenes.
Spear Corps, through its events, reaffirmed its commitment to family welfare and acknowledged the sacrifice, strength, and contribution of AWWA in building a strong, resilient, and compassionate army community.
