Spear Corps empowers Nagaland youth with skill development training

August 01, 2025 | BK News Service

In a remarkable initiative aimed at youth empowerment and skill development, the Indian Army’s Spear Corps successfully conducted a two-week Vocational Training and Internship Program in Dimapur, Nagaland, benefiting sixty young students from the Nagaland Toolroom and Training Centre (NTTC).
The program, tailored for youth aged between 18 and 25, provided hands-on training in essential trades such as welding, mechanics, electrical work, painting, and vehicle electrics. Over the course of two weeks, the trainees not only learned the technical aspects of their respective trades but also applied their knowledge through innovative projects and practical demonstrations, showcasing both enthusiasm and growing expertise.
Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding, Spear Corps, attended the concluding ceremony and praised the dedication and craftsmanship exhibited by the participants. He lauded their rapid progress and urged them to "strive for excellence in all endeavours, no matter how big or small."
The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continued commitment to nation-building through youth engagement, especially in the North East, where vocational training opens up significant employment opportunities and boosts self-reliance.
The program also strengthens civil-military relations and highlights the Army’s role not just as a security force but as a proactive partner in social and economic development.
As the students return to their communities, they carry not just new skills, but a renewed sense of confidence and possibility—ready to contribute meaningfully to both local industries and the larger goal of a skilled, self-reliant India.
