To commemorate the day, Lt Gen Pendharkar laid a wreath at the War Memorial in Rangapahar Military Station, honouring the Bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty for the nation. Officers, soldiers, and veterans joined the solemn ceremony to pay homage to the gallant infantrymen whose courage and dedication have safeguarded the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
Infantry Day is observed every year on October 27 to mark the landing of Indian Army troops at Srinagar in 1947 — a decisive operation that protected Jammu and Kashmir from invading forces and ensured its integration with India.
Speaking on the occasion, the Corps Commander highlighted the unmatched contribution of the infantry in upholding the highest traditions of valour, discipline, and patriotism. He urged all ranks to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of their predecessors and continue serving the nation with the same spirit of courage and commitment.
The event concluded with prayers for the fallen heroes and renewed resolve among the ranks to maintain the glory and ethos of the Indian Army’s “Queen of Battle.”
